Happy Halloween!

So, this year was a lot more fun for Halloween.  The kids still had no idea what was going on, but we had fun anyway.  Our whole weekend was full of Halloween activities.  Grandma and Grandpa Portle (gamma and papa) came to town, and Grandma is getting to stay for 2 weeks!!  So, Friday the kids daycare had some Halloween festivities.  It's always fun to see little kids running around in all sorts of costumes.  Gryffin was a lion this year,

Zailey was a spider.  The hat only lasted for a few pictures, but it was still super cute - despite the fact that everyone thought she was a little boy.  It still amazes me how you have to dress a little girl in pink for her not to be labeled as a boy.

We managed to get a few pictures of the 2 of them together...

But, what's a Halloween without chasing kids around!  They have definitely gotten to the stage where they are accomplished walkers but walking in a straight line is merely a dream of mine!

Here Jesse is trying to help them wade through a maze of kids at our local street Halloween fair.  They collected candy but mostly because the wrappers were shiny and crinkly!

We also went to a pumpkin patch so we could carve pumpkins.  The really enjoyed the rocking chairs and of course the train ride.

Now, when it came to carving pumpkins, Gryffin loved to use his spoon to stir the insides,

but neither of them liked to touch any of the actual goo.  Zailey, always the explorer, decided that eating raw pumpkin was lots of fun!

don't worry, it goes the other way for boys too. we were at the grocery the other day, and Riley was in full boy gear and had a hat [with ear flaps] on so you couldn't see his hair. some lady said "oh what a sweet little girl". sigh. i just said "thanks".

some of these Hween shots are just so funny. love their costumes!

So bummed - I just found that exact lion costume in a bin in the attic. Forgotten we'd bought it for T and it was too small when it arrived!! Wish we could have sent it to you (or used it for E!)
