So, we've been home just over a week now and everything is getting back to normal. Gryffin is feeling much better and finally starting to eat normally.
He is definitely very sensitive (cries whenever we leave the room, etc) and has a lot of fear about diaper changes. We're trying to give him as much control over his fears as possible. We always ask him if we can check his diaper and he has to generally agree before we try to change it. We ask him to "help" us when we do change it - hold the diaper, let him wipe his bottom (after we get the majority clean), etc. We've gotten a bunch of kids books about going to the doctor and hospital. And he loves to listen to other peoples bellies with his new stethoscopes. It's so cute, he'll come over with the stethoscope in his ears and repeat "belly", "belly" and expect you to lift up your shirt so he can listen. And then our pediatrician suggested we tell him stories about his hospital stay where we completely reframe the experience so he is the superhero of his own memories. So, he has now spent the weekend in castle wearing golden glowing pajamas, riding a flying bed with ribbons flapping the wind where he rescued all the babies with his smile and magic blanket. He really seems to like being a superhero - who doesn't!
Zailey loves having him home again and has really gotten into huging him. Although sometimes the hugs turn into tackles. But everyone seems to come out unscathed.
And of course with any sibilings whenever one does something, the other follows, here they are trying on mommy and daddy shoes.
Notice the paper taped to the floor, well a week prior to the hospital stay, we started a major bathroom remodel. Thank goodness we were realistic about our time and energy commitments and hired it out. Although this is very atypical for us, I am so glad someone else is doing the work and will finish in a month flat. But I am looking forward to the day when we have two go-fers to help with future remodels!
Although, I may be sorely mistaken about their willingness to help - check out this face when asked to put her pants on....

So glad all is well and back to normal. That had to be quite a scare for the little man (and his mommy and daddy)!. Hugs to the G-man, and to the Z-girl. Sad for her to have him gone... and yay for new bathrooms!
Btw, you can bet that at some point, we'll all come for NLSI and stay - especially since we have 103 deg heat to contend with on this end!!
