8 Months-ish

So the past 2 months have been a roller coaster of fun milestones, constant runny noses and various day care bugs.  I feel like we have finally gotten a break on the runny noses/mild fevers/coughs that the kids have been plagued with non-stop for the past two months.  The most frustrating bug was the H. influenzae bactrium - otherwise known as pink eye!  Poor Zailey had 3 cases back to back in about 3 weeks.  As it turns out, she had an ear infection too - which landed us in the doctor's office where Jesse snapped a few pictures of Gryffin entertaining himself with the paper on the exam table

But we've also had some fun milestones.  Zailey has been doing the army crawl for over a month now.  But just this past  weekend, Gryffin has started to propel himself in the forward direction,

It's not really crawling but every little bit helps, because Zailey's favorite game is to crawl over, steal Gryffin's toy, and crawl just out of reach, only to drop that toy and go back for the next one.  Gryffin could really use a more equal footing!

We've also tried to spend more time outside with the kids.  It has been a very weird spring for the Bay area.  LOTS of rain (which I love) and actually quite chilly.  So, the other day we were out planting some new plants in the front of the house.  We put the kids on a blanket and started digging.  In like 2 minutes flat, Zailey had made it to the flower bed and decided to partake in an afternoon snack of mud.  What's that statistic - we all eat a pound of dirt a year?  Zailey is well on her way to filling that quota!

It's really amazing how quickly their little personalites emerge.  In particular, they react very differently to the animals.  Zailey has started to chase them around the room, while Gryffin likes to watch them from a distance.  He likes the cat and will pet her (while Zailey just grabs her fur and rips whole chunks out), but he is quite nervous around Lina.  In fact, this picture is the closest he will get and even then, you can see that he's not too thrilled with the situation.

Zailey, on the other hand, has no fear...

Gryffin is definitely a cuddler and loves to just be held by someone, but his second favorite place has to be in the "jumperoo."  He is soooo happy when he gets to jump in it.  His timing is getting pretty good and he'll get into a real rhythm, almost like he is dancing.

We've tried to see if Zailey would get into it, but she just stands there and looks around until we take her out and let her crawl around on the floor.

We've also made real progress with the finger foods.  Again, their little personalities are already starting to emerge.  Some of our friends have joked that we ended up with little "mini-me's".  And I have to admit their food preferences only reinforce this observation.  Gryffin's favorite has to be avacodo. And Zailey loves meat!  Too funny!
