Halloween x3

Like many other years here on the Peninsula, the kids participated in not one, not two, but three Halloween trick or treat fests!  But they are so programmed  (yes a bit like brainwashed) to getting the candy doled out over many, many days that they actually forget they have it!!!  But I have to admit this is the biggest haul they have ever had.  They are definitely getting older and gaining more stamina.  I think my favorite thing about Halloween this year was that the whole family dressed up.  Not in a theme mind you - we have 4 year olds - getting them to do anything in unison is shear madness!
Gryffin chose to be a butterfly

and Zailey wanted to be a witch.
Unfortunately, the "witch" dress I ordered for Zailey did not show up in time for the first trick or treat extravaganza.  So, I had to punt.  The hat, broom and tights came from Michael's.  The wand we already had.  And the skirt and shirt are regular clothes turned inside out.  She had a red cape on from an old costume of mine, but it kept getting in the way - so she took it off.  But it was really about the broom.  They are both obsessed with being able to fly - really, who isn't?  Zailey informed us that to fly on a broom, "you have to run."  Hee, hee...

On actual Halloween we went with Andy and his family.  Andy, Gryffin, and both Dad's ran all the way around the neighborhood.  Zailey ran to start, then walked and eventually had me carry her from the farthest point all the way home.  Good thing my ankle is better.  Here you can see her final costume.
Since Zailey changed her costume, Gryffin had to change as well.  Notice the different set of wings.  And to be honest we were lucky to get that photo at all.  Here are all three of the kids in one of their many versions of "posing" for a picture!
And my absolute favorite picture of the night.  Jesse, the hippopotamus!
